STORY TIME RADIO

HISTORY

On June 20, 2004, I went on air with Story Time Radio – Katy’s Tales.  This was one of those dreams that I wished for that came true.  I had a technical producer, Joe Kirschling, who also was my co-host.  He had many years experience with radio and set me at ease from the very first show.  He was my mentor and most of all, Joe was one of those people who no matter what story I told he would be able to come back with a story or a pun that would put me into giggles (quite unprofessional but great for community radio) and I would have to find my composure to continue with the show.  I tell you this story because for me, radio has been a way for me to bring other storytellers to this media and have them share their stories.  I’ve done phone interviews across the nation and had people share their stories.  What a treat this has been!  How about you?  If you are interested in being on my show, email me at katy@katystales.com or call me at (970) 613-1197 and let’s arrange a time for you to come on Story Time Radio.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to have several storytellers share in hosting STORY TIME RADIO.  Scott Bussen and Bailey Phelps have alternated hosting the program and their talents have been greatly appreciated.

In September 2008, I was fortunate to have two new segments of STORY TIME RADIO come to KRFC family.  One is “Speaking of History:  Voices from the Past by Two Women of the Present.”  I am fortunate to have as co-hosted/producer/writer, Gail Larsen Khasawneh.  Gail and I do a segment of the program in a Radio Reader’s Theater format of stories of people of the past and then share stories of historical music and phrases.  We also do a segment on Museum Mysteries.

The second program is LARK Radio Theatre with Beverly Siglin as the Creative Director of the LARK Readers Theatre Group.  This program is sponsored by the Fort Collins Recreation Department and is a group that meets once a week to read for the different plays that Beverly develops.
